Fit 2 Zen started off as just another product review site. Mostly around running watches. As a runner and admitted “gadget geek”, I enjoyed trying new products in the running watch category.
A few years ago I (that’s me in the picture to the left while hiking on Kauai) was in the search for something to keep track of my new love of running. Ultimately I wanted to start participating in some local Triathlon’s as my sister entered one and loved it. Not to be outdone, I started searching for the best “gadgets” to help me in my training. What I found was a lot of information and not necessarily in one easy to find place. So I figured what a better thing to do then to start a site dedicated to Running Watches where I could combine several of my passions; writing, running, and technology!
That’s what this site (previously named “Best Running Watch Review”) was all about… at first.
But as time went on, I realized something; I really run just for the enjoyment and spiritual (meditative) aspects of it. Sure, the physical health benefits are a plus, but that’s not what it’s all about for me.
A life-long sufferer of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and recently diagnosed with Psoriasis, I realized (now more than ever) that reducing stress is vital to my long-term happiness and physical health.
I began to realize that the majority of fitness resources are about weight loss, looking good, and yes, feeling good. But there’s not a whole lot of talk about fitness just for the mental health aspects of it.
Mission: Fit 2 Zen curates and creates information, news, resources, products, and technology on fitness as it relates to mental health and stress reduction.
